Everything We Know About Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution — Chaos Rising
Mega Evolution — Chaos Rising
If you've been keeping tabs on the Pokémon TCG world lately, you already know the Mega Evolution era has been absolutely delivering. And just when you thought things couldn't get more intense after Perfect Order, The Pokémon Company went and announced the next one — Mega Evolution — Chaos Rising. Here's everything we know so far.
Release Date & Prereleases
Chaos Rising officially drops on May 22, 2026, making it the fourth English set in the Mega Evolution series (set code ME04). Prereleases will run from May 9th through May 17th, so if you want to crack packs early before the set hits shelves, that's your window — keep an eye on our store page for availability.
One heads-up worth mentioning: preorders have been unusually delayed compared to previous Mega Evolution sets, and as of early April there's still no official word on why. Set up alerts on the TCW site so you're first to know when they go live.
What Is Chaos Rising Based On? (Ninja Spinner Breakdown)
Chaos Rising is based almost entirely on Japan's Ninja Spinner set, which released on March 13, 2026 as their M4 expansion. This is actually great news for English collectors — because Ninja Spinner has already been out in Japan for weeks, we already have a really solid picture of what's coming our way.
Ninja Spinner continues to feature the new Mega Evolutions from Legends: Z-A, though not the newer Mega Evolutions introduced in the Mega Dimension DLC — those will start showing up in future sets. The Japanese set has 83 base cards, and the English version bumps that up slightly to 86 with a few additions.
One of the coolest things to come out of Ninja Spinner is the connected artwork between Froakie, Frogadier, and Mega Greninja ex. All three Illustration Rares are drawn by Susumu Maeya and show the Pokémon in and above a pond — it's the kind of thing collectors go absolutely nuts for, and for good reason. That trio of cards is going to look incredible displayed together.
The Card List: What's In the Set
Chaos Rising contains 122 cards total, including 5 Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, 5 regular Pokémon ex, 11 Illustration Rares, 18 Ultra Rares, and 6 Special Illustration Rares.
The confirmed Mega Evolution Pokémon ex are:
- Mega Greninja ex (cover star)
- Mega Pyroar ex
- Mega Floette ex
- Mega Dragalge ex
On the regular ex side, confirmed cards include Beedrill ex, Gourgeist ex, Cobalion ex, Cinccino ex, and likely Krookodile ex as a Gym promo. The set also includes over 20 Trainer cards and over 35 cards with special illustrations, which keeps the hit rate feeling rewarding without being overwhelming.

Should You Be Excited?
Honestly? Yes. Smaller, focused sets like Chaos Rising often mean better print runs and more copies available — which has been a real pain point throughout the ongoing TCG supply shortages. The compact size is a feature here, not a downside.
The Greninja focus is a massive draw. Greninja is one of the most beloved Pokémon in the entire franchise, and having Mega Greninja ex front and center — with an entire connected artwork line built around the evolutionary family — makes this set feel special beyond just chasing rarities.
We'll have Chaos Rising products in stock when they drop. Keep an eye on the TCW site and we'll keep you posted as preorders and restocks go live.
